IMPERO CAFFÉ BY SCOTT CONANT

The famed celebrity chef Scott Conant returns to New York city with Impero Caffé. A nod to both his hometown and the cuisine of the Roman Empire, Impero Caffé is a quaint, cozy neighborhood spot as well as a destination restaurant. The product driven menu will serve elevated bistro food that focuses on Italy’s commodities with great pastas, Italian grains and seafood. Dishes are visually striking with clean, bright flavors that are elegant yet approachable.


Scope of Position

Impero Caffe Lead Cook oversees the operations of the kitchen which include supervising the kitchen staff to make sure duties are performed appropriately and making sure the kitchen areas meet health and safety requirements as mandated by law. The Lead Cook is familiar with the Impero Caffe Service Principles and utilizes the principles when relevant.

Requirements/Responsibilities

  • Ensures all food is prepared to the recipes and standards of Impero Caffe  
  • Ensures customers satisfaction through quality and timely food preparation for breakfast.  
  • Tests freshness and quality of products on a daily basis
  • Follows Health Department regulations for all food and storage safety standards
  • Manage kitchen staff in a professional manner
  • Able to support any position in the kitchen that requires assistance
  • Opens the kitchen
  • Ensure the cooks are on time
  • Works the line
  • Expedite when necessary
  • Making sure orders are properly received and stored..
  • Familiarity with and the ability to utilize kitchen cutlery, automatic slicers, buffalo chopper, blenders, band saw, meat grinder, gas-fired cooking equipment, steam kettles, electric griddles, deep-fat fryers, ovens, till fryers, toaster, scales, can openers, and other culinary tools.
  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours, including work long hours
  • Fine dining experience preferred
  • Luxury Hotel experience preferred
  • High-volume experience preferred
  • Experience opening a new venue is preferred
  • Attention to detail and strong sense of urgency

Education And Experience: Prior experience required.
